EASF Inducts Second Cohort of the Panel of Elders in Naivasha, Kenya
From 11–13 November 2025, the Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) held an important induction workshop in Naivasha, Kenya, to officially welcome the 2nd Cohort of the EASF Panel of Elders. The workshop was opened by the Director of the EASF Secretariat, who thanked the Guest of Honor, EASF Policy Organs, and key partners, the African Union Commission (Peace Fund) and the Royal Kingdom of Denmark, for their continued support to regional peacebuilding.
EU Delegation Visits EASF Headquarters and Logistics Base
Addis Ababa, 30 October 2025 - On Thursday, a delegation from the European Union to the African Union visited the Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) Force Headquarters (FHQ) and Logistics Base. The visit was hosted by the EASF Force Commander and the Chief of Staff of the Logistics Base. The delegation received a detailed presentation on EASF’s mission, operations, and ongoing initiatives, before touring the facilities and premises of both the FHQ and Logistics Base.
EASF Bids Farewell to Outgoing Staff and Welcomes New Members
Nairobi, Kenya – Thursday, 30 October 2025 – The Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) held a formal handover and farewell ceremony at its Secretariat in Nairobi to honor outgoing staff members and welcome new officers, in line with the EASF Rotation Matrix 2025–2029. The event was presided over by Brigadier (Rtd) Paul Kahuria Njema, the Director of EASF.
EASF Presents Anniversary Book to Key AU Officials at High-Level Forum in Abuja
Abuja, Nigeria — November 9, 2025—The Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) marked a significant milestone in its advocacy and partnership efforts with the formal presentation of the EASF Anniversary Book to senior officials of the African Union Commission (AUC).
The presentation took place during the Second High-Level Biennial Lessons Learned Forum on Peace Support Operations and the African Standby Forces, held from 8–9 November 2025 in Abuja, Nigeria.

EASF Begins After-Action Review of “Bahari Salama” Maritime Exercise in Djibouti
Djibouti City, 18 October 2025 – The Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) has officially launched a three-day After-Action Review (AAR) following the successful completion of the regional maritime command post exercise “Bahari Salama”.
Held at the Escale Hotel in Djibouti City, the review brings together military leaders, planners, observers, and technical experts from across Eastern Africa to reflect on the lessons learned from the 18-day operation.

16 October 2025 - Djibouti City - At the culmination of its first-ever Maritime Command Post Exercise (MCPX) “Bahari Salama 1,” the Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) marked another significant milestone by officially launching its 20th Anniversary Commemorative Book. The launch took place during the closing ceremony at Doraleh Base in Djibouti City, in the presence of high-ranking officials, ministers of defense, diplomats, and international partners.
AU-UN Joint Support Planning Workshop Commences in Addis Ababa
