New Turkish DA Calls on Director

The Director of the Eastern Africa Standby Force Brig. Gen. Getachew Shiferaw Fayisa hosted the new Turkish Defence Attache to Kenya Captain (Navy) Erdinc Parlak at the Secretariat in Karen, Nairobi on 9th August 2021.

During the meeting, the Director briefed the Defence Attache about the Standby Force, its working and achievements since its establishment in 2004. As a regional peace-keeper, EASF is mandated to maintain a deployable force consisting of civilian, police and military personnel at all times. As such, consistent capacity building in Peace Support Operations is one of the core responsibilities of EASF. Here, the Standby Force conducts such trainings together with partners from many parts of the world, including Centers of Excellence within the region.

The meeting also explored various avenues of deeper cooperation between the Republic of Turkey and the Standby Force.

Also attending the meeting were the Joint Chief of Staff, Brig. Gen. Dr. PSC Osman Mohamed Abbas Osman and the Military Assistant, Lt. Col. Boniface Chomba.
