The BPST Commandant Calls on EASF Director

The Commandant of the British Peace Support Team (BPST) Eastern Africa, Colonel Richard Leakey, called on the Director of EASF Dr. Abdillahi Omar Bouh, on 10th November 2017 at the Secretariat in Karen, Nairobi.

During the meeting, the BPST Commandant informed the Director that the United Kingdom (UK) was keen on the will and intent for enhancement of EASF capability and deployment to contribute to regional peace and security. He acknowledged the fact that the upcoming Field Training Exercise (FTX) is an opportunity to demonstrate EASF's capability. Colonel Leakey also informed the meeting of UK's representation during the FTX 2017 Distinguished Visitors Day and confirmed his own attendance at the same time.
 
On his part, the EASF Director appreciated the continued technical and financial support of the UK to EASF. He extended his warmest regards to the people of UK for the recent donation of Forward Force Headquarters Start Up Kit and the communications equipment that will be used for the first time during the FTX. Dr. Bouh assured Colonel Leakey of EASF's strong commitment to an enhanced capability and readiness to deploy as may be mandated by the African Union.

Attending the meeting were the UK Technical Advisor to EASF, Lt Col Ewen Turner, the EASF Joint Chief of Staff Brig. Gen. (Dr.) Charles Rudakubana and the Military Assistant, Lt. Col. David K Chesire.
