EASF Takes Part in ASC Annual Coordination Meeting

Category: News

The Eastern Africa Standby Force sent a team comprising some members of staff to the 5th African Standby Capacity (ASC) annual coordination meeting, held from the 29th to 31st May 2018 at the Semiramis Continental Hotel in Cairo, Egypt.

The annual meeting has become a critical strategic round-table for stakeholders in the civilian dimension of the African Union. The focus usually lies on civilian capacity generation and development of rapid civilian deployment when needed, mainly from the ASC roster system. The meeting thus sets annual targets in the continental rostering process and revises shortfalls from previous years at the same time.

The meeting was attended by African Standby Capacity's Senior Rostering Officer and Assistant, Heads of Civilian Components and Rostering Officers, Heads of Human Resources from EASF, ECOWAS, and North African Regional Capability (NARC), representatives from Training Centers and Centers of Excellence as well as United Nations Office to the African Union (UNOAU) and GIZ of Germany.
