EASF Civilian Foundation Course Underway at Rwanda Peace Academy, Musanze

The Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) launched its first Civilian Foundation Course for 2022 on Monday, 12 September 2022. The opening ceremony was held at the Rwanda Peace Academy (RPA) in Musanze, Rwanda. The course was launched officially by the Director of RPA, Col. Jill Rutaremara, who welcomed EASF at the Rwanda Peace Academy and expressed that it was an honor to host the course.

The aim of the course is to introduce civilian participants to theoretical concepts and practical methods of contemporary peace support operations (PSOs) which include detailed and realistic insights into the conceptual and institutional frameworks of multidimensional PSOs, cross-cutting issues and an overview of core functional areas that contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of all the components in a multidimensional PSO..

The course was coordinated by the Civilian Component of EASF led by Mr. Kedir Ababulgu, Ali who was also representing the Director of EASF. The coordinating team included the Planning, Training and Evaluation Officer, Ms. Octavia Rose, and the lead facilitator for the Civilian Foundation Course, Ms. Florence Oduor-Omanya.

The Civilian Foundation Course is a two-weeks training and will end on Friday 23 September 2022. A total of 25 participants drawn from all ten member states of EASF are taking part in the course.
