The Eastern African Standby Force launched its Integrated Mission Planning Course (IMPC) at the United Nations Regional Service Centre in Entebbe, Uganda on 22nd May 2023.
Un Nouveau Directeur Rejoint l'EASF
L'EASF a reçu un nouveau Directeur, le Général de Brigade Paul Kahuria Njema, qui succède au Général de Brigade Getachew Shiferaw Fayisa qui a servi comme Directeur de l'EASF à partir de 2020.
La cérémonie de passation a eu lieu au Secrétariat de l'EASF à Karen Nairobi le 19 Mai 2023 et a été suivie, entre autres, par le Président des Amis de l'EASF, l'équipe de direction de l'EASF et le personnel de l'EASF.
New Director Joins EASF
EASF has received a new Director, Brig Paul Kahuria Njema, who takes over from Brig Gen Getachew Shiferaw Fayisa who has served as EASF’s Director from 2020. The handover ceremony took place at the EASF Secretariat in Karen Nairobi on 19th May 2023 and was attended by among others, the Chairperson of Friends of EASF, the EASF management team and EASF staff.
The Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Defence in Kenya Hosts Outgoing and Incoming EASF Directors
The Cabinet Secretary for Defence, Hon. Aden Duale, on the 18th May 2023, hosted the incoming Director of the Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) Brigadier Paul Kahuria Njema who paid him a courtesy visit at Defence Headquarters in Nairobi. Brigadier Njema was also accompanied by the outgoing Director Brigadier General Getachew Shiferaw Fayisa.
Outgoing and Incoming Director Handover In Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
The Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) incoming Director, Brig Paul Kahuria Njema, visited the Structures of EASF based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia that include the Force HQs and Logistics Base accompanied by the outgoing Director, Brig Gen Getachew Shiferaw Fayisa, and the Head of Administration and Finance, Col Mohamed Barkat Aden for the Office handover function.
Meeting with the Chief of the General Staff of Ethiopia National Defence Forces
The Chief of the General Staff of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Field Marshal Birhanu Jula, hosted the Management of Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) for a Meeting on the 16th May 2023, at Defence Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The new Director, Brig Paul Kahuria Njema, expressed appreciation to the outgoing Director, Brig Gen Getachew Shiferaw Fayisa, for the smooth handover process of EASF Directorship.

Les jeunes mènent des délibérations autour de la paix et de l'environnement à Djibouti
La République de Djibouti et la Force en Attente en Afrique Est (EASF) ont lancé trois jours d'activités à Djibouti entre le 7 et le 9 mai 2023. Le thème du séminaire de paix est intitulé "Youth 4 Peace, Promoting Peace, Protecting the Environment" (Les jeunes pour la paix, promouvoir la paix, protéger l'environnement). Des jeunes leaders issus de diverses organisations de la société civile au sein des États membres de l'EASF, dont plus de 60 jeunes du pays hôte, ont participé à l'événement.

Le "Cours sur les opérations de paix intégrées en Afrique", un cours de cinq jours réunissant des civils, des militaires et des policiers, visant à améliorer les connaissances et les compétences des participants en matière de gestion intégrée des crises, a débuté le 7 Mai, à Kigali, au Rwanda.
