EAST African Standby Force Hosts Danish Defence Delegation for Strategic Talks
November 14, 2024 – The East African Standby Force (EASF), led by its Director, Brigadier Paul Kahuria Njema, welcomed a high-level delegation from the Danish Ministry of Defence (MOD) and Defence Command Denmark (DCDA) for a crucial meeting aimed at strengthening future cooperation on capacity building, peace and security, and cybersecurity.
The Danish delegation was headed by Commander Senior Grade Peter Hansen of Defence Command Denmark and included Major Nikolaj Lindberg (MOD), Commander Thomas Jeppessen (DCDA), Major Dorthe Sørensen (DCDA), and Colonel Jens Lindvig (DA Denmark). The discussions centered on the potential for joint initiatives that would enhance the operational capabilities of both organizations in the face of emerging security challenges.
Brigadier Njema underscored the importance of developing training programs that are in line with rapidly evolving global security dynamics, particularly in the areas of cyber threats and peacekeeping operations. He stressed the need for continuous adaptation to ensure preparedness for future challenges.
Commander Hansen expressed his admiration for the progress and achievements of the EASF, particularly its contributions to regional peace and security. He emphasized Denmark’s commitment to ongoing collaboration with the EASF.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties exchanged commemorative souvenirs as a symbol of their mutual commitment to continued dialogue and cooperation in the pursuit of peace and stability in the region.
