African Union Delegation Visits EASF
A delegation from the department of Peace Operations of the African Union conducted a two-day visit at the Eastern Africa Standby Force Secretariat from 19th to 20th April, 2023.
The working visit was conducted as part the engagement and coordination efforts between the AU and EASF aimed at enhancing collaboration and integration.
Statement by Eastern Africa Standby Force on the Situation In The Republic Of The Sudan
The Republic of the Sudan and international actors have been engaging with great progress in offering different perspectives on overcoming the current political crisis and it was envisaged that a final Political Agreement was be signed earlier in April, which was to allow the Republic of the Sudan to restore democratic transition and end the crisis. Unfortunately, the unresolved disagreement between the Sudanese Military Forces and the Rapid Support Forces has led to postponement of the signing of the Political Agreement and triggered the current unfortunate escalation of crisis.
EASF Management Retreat in Mombasa
The Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) conducted from 17th March in Mombasa (Kenya) of a two-days Executive Management Retreat themed “Strengthening EASF Mandate and Performance in the Region”. The main purpose of the Retreat was to provide Management Team with a platform to reflect and evaluate the Organization in order to assess how well it is achieving its goals.
Enhancing coordination for the Police Component
The Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) conducted a Police Points of Contact (PPOC) workshop in Mombasa, Kenya, from 9th – 12th March 2023. The aim was to update the nine Member States represented on the achievements, progress and challenges of EASF Police component and the need to keep an updated Police database.
