Message of Solidarity from EASF on the Recent Natural Disaster in Rwanda and Uganda.

Rwanda and Uganda have been experiencing heavy rainfall since March and this has continued, causing severe flooding in both countries. Landslides have been reported in other elevated areas of Uganda where deluges and floods destroyed homes and displaced hundreds of people and likewise in Rwanda. This is the worst flooding Rwanda has seen since May 2020 when around 80 people died. In the aftermath of this unfortunate disaster, the EASF stands in solidarity with the Governments of Rwanda and Uganda and the people affected.

EASF calls on the countries of the region and other partners to provide relief support to the worst-hit areas. Please know that you are not alone in this difficult time. EASF stands in solidarity with the affected people and sends thoughts of strength, support and courage. We admire the resilience and perseverance of the people affected shown in the face of this disaster, and EASF is committed to supporting them in ways and means possible.
