EASF in Talks with Turkish Defence Officials in Istanbul

Members of EASF's senior leadership held extensive discussions with Turkish Defence officials in Istanbul, Turkey on 18th August 2021.

During the first meeting, the Director, Brig. Gen. Getachew Shiferaw Fayisa together with the Joint Chief of Staff Brig. Gen. Dr. PSC Osman Mohamed Abbas Osman and the Military Assistant Lt. Col. Boniface Chomba, held talks with the Head of International Relations from the Turkish Ministry of Defence. These talks focused on possible technical support in EASF's capacity building initiatives, enhancement of cooperation with more partners as well as strengthening the existing relationship between the Standby Force and the Republic of Turkey.

In course of the afternoon, the Director and his team held a second meeting with the Vice President of Turkish Defence Industries Mr. Serdar Demirel. Vice President Demirel recognized the important role played by regional organizations like EASF  in enhancement of peace and security in their regions. Brig. Gen. Fayisa also discussed possible avenues of cooperation and capacity building with Mr. Demirel thoroughly.
