The Air, Land, and Maritime Movement Planning Course commenced on Monday, October 21, 2024, at the Logistics Base Training Centre. Funded by the African Peace and Security Architecture (APSA), the course is a collaborative effort between APSA and the Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF). The two-week program was officially inaugurated by Colonel Getu Taye, Director of the International Peace Support Training Institute at the Ethiopian Ministry of Defense. In his opening remarks, Col. Taye emphasized the critical importance of movement capability for commanders, noting that it is an essential aspect of their command responsibilities.
He urged all facilitators and participants to commit resources to ensure the course's success.
The course aims to equip participants with the knowledge, skills, and competencies necessary for effective Air, Ground, and Maritime Movement Planning. A total of 19 military personnel from Burundi, Comoros, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, and the EASF Planning Element participated in this vital initiative, designed to prepare logistics officers for upcoming peace support operations. The course spanned 11 days and concluded on Friday, November 1, 2024.
