Enhancing Peace and Security in the Eastern Africa Region

Ongoing Integrated Mission Administration Course Kicks Off in Addis Ababa

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – The Integrated Mission Administration Course, which began on August 19, 2024, is currently underway in EASF Force headquarters, Addis Ababa, and will conclude on August 30, 2024.

Brigadier (Rtd) Paul Kahuria Njema, Director of EASF, highlighted the significance of the course during his opening address. “This course is more than just a training session; it is a critical opportunity to align strategies, enhance capabilities, and strengthen our bonds as a cohesive force,” he stated. He emphasized that the complexities of modern peacekeeping require not only individual expertise but also seamless integration across various EASF disciplines.

Dr. Leah Barasa, EASF Head of Civilian Component, elaborated on the importance of Integrated Mission Administration in supporting the implementation of peacekeeping mandates. She explained that participants will utilize tools that outline essential tasks for EASF structures to be aware of during the startup of a Mission Headquarters (MHQ). This includes establishing managerial systems to streamline internal processes, structures, tools, and services necessary for effective mandate implementation across mission areas.

The course aims to equip participants with the skills and knowledge needed to enhance operational effectiveness within the EASF framework, fostering collaboration and coordination among member states in peacekeeping efforts.
