EASF Launches Air Movement Control Training of Trainers Course in Addis Ababa
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – The Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) on Monday, 30th June 2025, officially launched the Air Movement Control in Peace Support Operations (PSO) Training of Trainers Course at its Logistics Training Centre in Addis Ababa.
The two weeks course, which runs until 11th July 2025, aims to build the capacity of air movement personnel by equipping selected trainers with the necessary knowledge and skills to support rapid deployment during peacekeeping and humanitarian missions. Once trained, these officers will serve as multipliers, enhancing air movement readiness across their respective national contingents.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the EASF Force Commander, Brigadier General Getachew Ali, expressed gratitude to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia for hosting the training and to EASF Member States for their commitment in nominating participants.
“This course serves a specific and vital purpose: to build the capacity of air personnel, not just to operate effectively, but also to train others, thereby amplifying our reach, our readiness, and our resilience,” Brig Gen Ali noted, before officially declaring the course open.
Participants have been drawn from seven EASF Member States: Burundi, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, and Uganda.
Air movement control is a critical element in the successful execution of peace operations. It enables rapid deployment, reduces delays, and ensures the smooth coordination of personnel and logistics factors essential for timely crisis response and mission success.
This initiative reaffirms EASF’s commitment to enhancing the operational effectiveness of its standby capabilities and strengthening regional security architecture through targeted, high-impact training.
