Enhancing Peace and Security in the Eastern Africa Region

EASF Hosts FTX-2017 Exercise Director

The Eastern African Standby Force held lengthy discussions with the Field Training Exercise (FTX) 2017 Director, Maj. Gen. Ezeldin Osman Taha, on 12th September 2017 at the Secretariat in Karen, Nairobi.

FTX-2017, which is to be held at Port Sudan in the Republic of the Sudan in November, is a multidimensional and multinational peace keeping exercise, aimed at vigorously testing and evaluating EASF's ability to deploy and restore peace in a volatile environment anywhere in the Eastern Africa region as well as in the continent when mandated to do so by the African Union within a given period of time.

An exercise of such magnitude involving all EASF 10 Member States, partners and other stakeholders requires intensive planning in order to make it a success. It is in the light of this premise that the EASF Director, Dr. Abdillahi Omar Bouh, invited Maj. Gen. Taha to discuss and harmonize on the entire progress being made before the Final Planning Conference (FPC) scheduled from 25th to 29th September 2017.
