Police Points of Contact Workshop in Mombasa, Kenya

Category: News

The EASF Police Component is conducting a Police Point of Contacts (PPOCs) workshop in Mombasa, Kenya between 14th and 17th February 2021.

Representing the EASF Director Brig. Gen. Getachew Shiferaw Fayisa during the opening ceremony was the Head of Police Component, Col. Ali Mohamed Robleh.

The 5-day long workshop has a number of solid objectives. One of these is sharing information between EASF and PPOCs on progress made in respective Member States as well as the accomplishments of the Police Component within EASF since the last PPOCs workshop held in the Republic of Seychelles in 2019.

Another important objective is to train PPOCs on the effective use of the Police Roster Database so that they are in a position to select suitable and qualified personnel to be placed in the roster database. These officers can thereafter be rapidly deployed should need to do so arise.

The workshop is being attended by PPOCs from Burundi, Comoros, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya and Uganda.

Others participating in the workshop include the Police Component's Adviser ACP Bjarne Askholm, Planning, Training and Evaluation Officer Lt. Col. Bashir Kassim, Personnel and Administration Officer SP. Diana Nyamisango, Administrative Assistant Ms. Terry Obadha and Database Development Consultant Mr. Francis Mugo.

The PPOCs' workshop is fully funded by the Royal Kingdom of Denmark.
