PPOC Workshop in Comoros Launched

The Eastern Africa Standby Force launched a four-days' Police Points of Contact workshop in Moroni, Comoros on 21st February 2022.

The police workshop, which takes place at least once every year, seeks to bring together officers from EASF Member States who work closely with the Police Component in order to share relevant information which will in turn contribute towards accomplishment of activities which the component is supposed to carry out in the course of the year.

The Guest of Honor during the opening ceremony was the Inspector General of Police from the Union of Comoros, IGP Abdel Kadel Mohamed.

During the ceremony, the Head of Police Component Col Ali Mohamed Robleh welcomed the participants of the workshop on behalf of the Director, Brig Gen Getachew Shiferaw Fayisa. He expressed his gratitude to all team players who have been working tirelessly to capture details of officers from EASF Member States who have been trained for Peace Support Operations. Col Ali thanked the Government and te people of the Union of Comoros for agreeing to host this important workshop.

On his part, the Senior Police Advisor D/CSP Bjarne Askholm expressed his satisfaction that EASF Member States have been keen on making progress in capacity building despite challenges caused by the global COVID-19 pandemic. He noted that gender balance is now well reflected in selection of courses' participants from all Member States.

The workshop, which is fully funded by the Government of the Royal Kingdom of Denmark, comes to a close on 24th February 2022. Nine out of ten Member States are taking part in the workshop.
