African Union Convenes Meeting in Nairobi, Kenya

The African Union Commission (AUC) launched the 14th Meeting of Senior Officials of African Union (AU), Regional Economic Communities (RECs) and Regional Mechanisms (RMs) on 31st July 2018 in Nairobi, Kenya. The meetings also include the 14th Steering Committee meeting of the

European Union Support to the African Peace and Security Architecture (APSA) Programme.

The meeting was officially opened by Amb. Ruth Solitei, the Director of East African Community Affairs within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kenya. Representing the EASF Secretariat was the Director, Dr. Abdillahi Omar Bouh.     

The participants of the meeting, who are well versed in conflict prevention, management and resolution on peace and security, seek to review the implementation of the 2008 Memorandum of Understanding between the African Union and RECs/RMs. They will identify any challenges in the implementation road-map and draft the necessary recommendations to the AU.

The meeting comes to an end on Friday 3rd August 2018.
