Implementation of AU Police Framework Takes Off

A four-day workshop for the implementation of African Union's Police Framework for Regional Mechanisms (RMs) and Regional Economic Communities (RECs) which was launched by the Police Component of the Eastern Africa Standby Force at the Kenya Commercial Bank

Leadership Center in Karen, Nairobi on 1st October 2018, came to a close on 4th October 2018.

The workshop aimed at producing draft documents which are harmonized with the African Union Police Framework meant to generally improve the roll-out of Peace Support and Special Operations when need arises. The process involved an extensive review of existing Policy Documents, Standard Operating Procedures, Memorandums of Understanding e.t.c. culminating into production of the most appropriate documents for the Police Component.

The workshop was officially opened by the EASF Joint Chief of Staff Major General (Dr.) Charles Rudakubana on behalf of the EASF Director, Dr. Abdillahi Omar Bouh.

The German Ministry of Foreign Affairs fully funded the workshop through the Gesellschaft fuer Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
