Civilian Component Undertakes Roster Verification and Recruitment in Rwanda

The Civilian Component of the Eastern Africa Standby Force carried outapersonnel verification and recruitment exercise from 26th to 28th February 2019 in Kigali, Rwanda.Thethree day activity aimed at assessing the suitability and capacity of personnel who have been trained for

Peace Support Operations (PSO) by EASF or it's affiliate training centers in the region.

The opening of the verification and recruitment exercise was graced by Mrs. Diyana Gitera who is the Director General, Africa Department, Rwandan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. Another distinguished guest during the ceremony was the EASF Joint Chief of Staff, Major General (Dr) Charles Rudakubana.

In his opening speech, the EASF Head of Civilian Component, Mr. Steve Lalande thanked the Government and the people of Rwanda for according EASF Staff a warm welcome on arrival in the country. He acknowledged the important role Rwandan peace-keepers have been playing in the region as well as on the global arena.

The exercise saw a considerable number of PSO trained civilians from Rwanda being evaluated in accordance with the regional peace-keeper's rostering principles. A substantive number of those interviewed will join the African Standby Capacity; this is yet another milestone which consolidates EASF's leading role in providing the Continental Standby Force with highly trained personnel ready and willing to roll out their acquired skills in peace keeping activities.
