Peace Operations' Department's Leadership Changes

Category: News

The Eastern Africa Standby Force bid farewell to the first Head of Peace Operations' Department, Major General Albert Kendagor, on 5th August 2019 at the Secretariat in Karen, Nairobi. On the same day, EASF welcomed Brigadier General Henry Isoke from

the Republic of Uganda to take over the mantle in the department in line with EASF's Staff Rotation Matrix.

During the ceremony, the EASF Director Dr. Abdillahi Omar Bouh thanked Maj. Gen. Kendagor for the exemplary service he has accorded the Standby Force over the last three years. He underscored numerous milestones the Standby Force has achieved some of which are directly attributed to the Peace Operations Department. It was under Maj. Gen. Kendagor's leadership that the Peace Operations' Department rolled out EASF's Early Warning Framework; a blueprint which is intended to assist the Standby Force zero-in on emerging conflicts and mitigate these in the most efficient manner.

Dr. Bouh also thanked a number of outgoing officers from the Kenya Defence Forces who have also finished their terms of service at the EASF Secretariat.

In his parting speech, Maj. Gen. Kendagor thanked the entire EASF fraternity for their various contributions which have catapulted the Standby Force to its present state. He observed that working in a multidimensional and multinational environment provides a platform upon which diversity is celebrated as all actors work towards the common goal of peace on the continent and the world at large.

Maj. Gen. Kendagor is taking over as the Commandant of the Kenya Military Academy in Lanet, Nakuru, starting from August 2019.
