Deputy Chief of Defence Forces Calls on Director

Kenya's Deputy Chief of Defence Forces Lieutenant General Robert Kibochi, paid the EASF Director Dr. Abdillahi Omar Bouh, a courtesy call at the Secretariat on 12th September 2019.

During the meeting, the two leaders held lengthy discussions on matters of peace and security within the Eastern Africa region and beyond. The African Union placed EASF on continental standby from 1st July to 31st December 2019; a continental responsibility which demands that the regional peace-keeper must remain on high alert during this period.

In the event that a crisis situation arises on the continent, EASF could be called upon by the African Union to roll out the relevant Peace Support Operations (PSOs).

Within this period, senior officers from the region's defence and security establishments have been consulting with EASF's leadership in order to consistently review various developments within the continent.
