UK's Military Delegation Calls on Director

Category: News

A military delegation from the United Kingdom paid a courtesy call on EASF's Director Dr. Abdillahi Omar Bouh at the Secretariat in Karen, Nairobi, on Friday 28th February 2020.

The delegation comprised Brig. Simon West, Senior Military Adviser, Defence Sector, Rule of Law and Security Institutions Group (ROLSIG), Lt. Col. Oliver Major from the Royal United Services Institute for Defence and Security Studies and Lt. Col. G.A. McDade, S01, African Standby Forces, British Peace Support Team Africa (BPSTA).

In course of the day's discussions, the guests were briefed on the progress EASF has been making in Peace Support Operations over the last couple of years. One of the recent accomplishments was the successful execution of EASF's mandate to play the role of the Continental Standby Force from 1st July to 31st December 2019.

These intricate experiences were of particular importance to Brigadier West, who was seconded to the UN as the Senior Military Advisor within the United Nations Political Mission in Somalia in April 2017, a post he will be occupying until September 2020.
