EASF Director Meets Japanese Defence Attaché in Addis Ababa

The Director of EASF Dr. Abdillahi Omar Bouh held a key meeting with the Japanese Defence Attaché to Ethiopia Colonel Hidemasa Murata on 3rd November 2017 at the EASF Force Headquarters in Addis Ababa.

The aim of the meeting was to expound on issues discussed among Colonel Murata, the EASF Force Commander Brigadier General Alladine Osman and the Chief of Staff EASF Logistics Base, Colonel Godwin Karugaba during an earlier meeting held on 19th September 2017.

Dr. Bouh informed Colonel Murata about diverse activities the regional peacekeeper will be undertaking in 2018, as agreed during the Experts Working Group's meeting which concluded a day earlier, i.e. on 2nd November 2017.

In the past, Japan has been an ardent supporter of EASF's capacity building activities and is willing to partner with the Standby Force in this area once again. Colonel Murata assured the hosts that his country is ready to set the ball rolling once the two bilateral partners work out a draft concept covering possible areas of cooperation.

Other officials present during the meeting were; the United Kingdom Technical Advisor Lieutenant Colonel Richard Welshes, the EASF Force Commander Brigadier General Alladine Osman and Logistics Training Center Commandant Colonel Chaharane Mogne.
