Policy Organs Meetings kick off in Sudan

Experts Working GroupPeace and security leaders in the Eastern Africa are convening in Khartoum, Sudan from 20th – 25th April 2015  to participate in the 13th Extraordinary Policy Organs Meetings.

The meetings kicked off with the Experts Working Group on Monday, 20th April 2015.  In his opening statement, Lt Gen Imadeldin Mustafa Adawi, Chief of Joint Operations of the Sudanese Army, who was the Guest of Honour, urged the Experts to take seriously, the current security situation in the region and come up with concrete, practical and sustainable suggestions and recommendations for consideration by  the Chiefs of Defence and Security.

EASF attained Full Operational Capability (FOC) in December 2015 and has now moved into the deployment phase.  This is after ten years of preparations of the multi-dimensional force consisting of Military, Police and Civilian components to address security threats and challenges in the Region. These six-day meetings aim at addressing pertinent issues and critical tasks  to support the envisioned deployment of the Force.
