Dutch Defence Attache Calls on EASF Director

The Dutch Defence Attache at the Embassy in Nairobi, LCol N.C. Rienks LL.M paid the EASF Director, Brig. Gen. Getachew Shiferaw Fayisa a courtesy call on 26th January 2021 at the Secretariat in Karen, Nairobi.

The meeting was also attended by the Joint Chief of Staff Brig. Gen. PSC Osman Mohamed Abbas Osman and the Military Assistant Lt. Col. Edward Onyango.

In course of the day's deliberations, Brig. Gen. Fayisa informed LCol Rienks of the development of the Standby Force ever since its inception, its achievements as well as its role in regional and continental peace keeping efforts.

EASF has achieved a considerable number of milestones during the last couple of years. From 1st July to 31st December 2019, the African Union placed EASF as the Continental Standby Force whereby it was responsible for conflict resolution on the entire African continent. The regional peace-keeper also deployed highly qualified Elections' Observations' teams to the Union of Comoros in March 2019, the Republic of Seychelles in October 2020 and the Republic of Uganda in January 2021.
