AU-UN Joint Support Planning Workshop Commences in Addis Ababa
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – 13 October 2025 – A joint African Union–United Nations workshop focused on support planning officially opened on Monday in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, bringing together key representatives from both organizations, including the Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) and various UN departments.
The five-day workshop, running through Friday, 17 October 2025, is a significant step toward implementing UN Security Council Resolution 2719 (2023), which outlines frameworks for enhanced collaboration between the AU and UN in peace operations.

The workshop aims to improve coordination, interoperability, and the development of sustainable support structures for AU-led and jointly mandated missions.
According to organizers, the presence of a diverse range of expertise from both institutions is expected to foster a constructive exchange of ideas and contribute to practical, results-oriented outcomes.
