Strengthening Humanitarian Action and Disaster Response Collaboration

Catégorie : News

The Director of the Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) paid a visit to the General Directorate for Civil Security (DGSC) in Moroni, Comoros on the 27th of May. The visit was led by Col Soilihi Abdallah Rafick, focusing on discussions surrounding Humanitarian Action and Natural Disasters Support (HANDS).

During the meeting, both parties explored ways to enhance collaboration between EASF and DGSC as EASF works towards developing its capacities to fulfill its HANDS mandate. DGSC, being the primary Comorian institution responsible for Disaster Management Responses (DRM), plays a crucial role in protecting the population, property, and the environment. It is also tasked with coordinating the development and implementation of a national DRM strategy.

Additionally, DGSC oversees the preparation, coordination, prevention, and response to emergency crises in Comoros. The institution also ensures the effective functioning of the Permanent Secretariat of the National Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR).
