Enhancing Peace and Security in the Eastern Africa Region

The Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman Welcomes EASF Delegation

The Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman, Amb. Swaleh Bin Suleyman Bin Ahmad warmly received a delegation from the Eastern Africa Standby Force at the Embassy in Nairobi on Tuesday, 20th June 2017.

The EASF Delegation, led by the Director Dr. Abdillahi Omar Bouh, briefed the Ambassador on the growth of the regional peacekeeper since its inception more than a decade ago and the

activities it pertakes to ensure its readiness to deploy in Peace Support Operations.

The two leaders further discussed matters of collaboration on peace and security as well as regional geopolitics. Under peace and security, the talks focussed on efforts of combating terrorism whereby EASF could strengthen its cooperation with the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM).

The Ambassador of Oman assured the EASF Delegation that his country firmly believes that peace is an unconditional prerequisite for progress in any part of the world. He committed to request the Government of the Sultanate of Oman to explore possible areas of collaboration and partnership with EASF in maintaining peace and stability in the Eastern Africa region.  

The EASF Director was accompanied by Brig Charles Rudakubana (Joint Chief of Staff) and Lt Col David K Chesire (Military Assistant).
