EASF's Leadership calls on Top Ethiopian Defence Officials

Members of the Eastern Africa Standby Force's management, led by the Director, Brig Gen Getachew Shiferaw Fayisa, called on senior officials from the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia's Defence Forces in Addis Ababa, on 1st February 2022.

During the visit to the Defence Headquarters, EASF officials separately met with the Minister for Defence of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia's Defence Forces His Excellency Dr. Abraham Belay as well as the Ethiopian Defense Chief of Staff, Field Marshal Berhanu Jula.

The purpose of the meetings was to update the officials on the current status of EASF in general. During the last Policy Organs' Meetings held in December 2022 in Kampala, Uganda, the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia took over the chairperson-ship of the Standby Force for the year 2022. As such, it is crucial that the Chair is periodically furnished with first-hand information on various peace-related developments within the organization from its top brass.

Accompanying Director Brig Gen Fayisa during the visit were the Head of Administration and Finance Ms. Lina Hoareau, the Joint Chief of Staff Brig Gen PSC Dr. Osman Mohamed Abbas, Chief of Staff at EASF's Logistics' Base Col Ahmed Essa, and the Military Assistant Lt Col Boniface Chomba.
