Operationalization of EASF's Situation Room in Progress
Week 27 of the year 2018 saw the Eastern African Standby Force Secretariat roll out the development of Multinational Early Warning, Situational Awareness and Intelligence (MEWSAI) Concept in line with the operationalization of its Early Warning Systems.
In this endeavor, the Peace Operations Department held a ground-breaking workshop with a representative from Compendum Ltd, a Finnish consultancy firm with vast experiences in similar projects. The firm will develop the situational awareness and information concept based on existing documents and the report from the Situation Room Workshop held in June 2018. The project also includes the formulation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for the EASF Situation Room. Compendum Ltd. will support the endorsement of the concept, its implementation and in some cases lead certain activities.
The project is fully funded by the Swedish Government under the umbrella of the Nordic Advisory and Coordination Staff (NACS).
