Enhancing Peace and Security in the Eastern Africa Region

Police Component's ACHPR Course is Concluded

Category: News

The Police Component of Eastern African Standby Force rolled out and successfully concluded a African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights (ACHPR) course from 6th to 10th August 2018 at the International Peace Support Training Center (IPSTC) in Nairobi, Kenya.

The course, intended to make participants understand the ACHPR as an International Human Rights Instrument, sought to elaborate on issues of governance and Rule of Law (RoL) as they relate to Peace Support Operations (PSOs). Guidelines on policing assemblies, arrests, police custody and pre-trial detentions we exhaustively explored under the context of the ACHPR.

The course, which had drawn participants from EASF Member States, was fully funded by the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the GIZ of Germany.
