Category: News

The United Kingdom's (UK) Ambassador to Ethiopia and the African Union Dr. Alastair McPhail paid the EASF Director a courtesy call on 22nd May 2019. Accompanying Amb. McPhail were the UK's Technical Advisor to EASF Lt. Col. Ewen Turner and the BPST (Africa) Commandant Colonel G.E. Mintonin.

Amb. McPhail held lengthy discussions with the EASF Director Dr. Abdillahi Omar Bouh in presence of the Head of Peace Operations Department Major General Albert Kendagor and other EASF members of staff.

The Government of the United Kingdom has been supporting EASF enormously both technically and financially ever since the Standby Force was established in 2014. Since 2015, UK has also partnered with the Danish Government in procuring state of the art Command and Control Communications Information Systems (C3IS) equipment meant to equip EASF's Forward Force in event of a deployment. The most recent undertaking in this area was the purchase of Satellite Communications equipment.

EASF's other two Structures (the Force Headquarters and Logistics Base) are located in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The visit to EASF was essential in providing Amb. McPhail with a better understanding the entire Standby Force.
