EASF Receives New Technical Advisors from Nordic Countries

The 22nd day of November 2018 saw the Eastern African Standby Force receive two new Technical Advisors from the Nordic Countries and bid farewell to two other outgoing officers from the same region at the EASF Secretariat in Karen, Nairobi.

In his keynote speech during the ceremony, the EASF Director, Dr. Abdillahi Omar Bouh thanked the Governments and the Peoples of the Nordic Countries for the enormous support they have accorded the Standby Force in capacity building in numerous fields ever since its inception. The regional peace-keeper's attainment of its Full Operational Capability (FOC) in 2014 as well as the subsequent maintenance and enhancement of this status is largely tied to trainings and other capacity building efforts which have been supported by the Nordic Counties.

The outgoing officers are both Technical Advisors. One is in charge of Logistics, Colonel Hakan Forsmark and the other is in charge of the Maritime Cell, Cdr (SG) Lars Ivar Fjell. The incoming officers are, Police Advisor Dep. CSP Bjarne Askholm and Civilian Technical Advisor Mr. Jouni Vainio.
