EASF Launches Logistics Operational Planning Course in Addis Ababa
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – 14 July 2025 – The Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) officially launched the Logistics Operational Planning Process Course (LOPPC) on Monday at its Logistics Training Center in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The two-week course, scheduled from 14 to 26 July, forms part of EASF’s 2025 Activity Plan and aims to strengthen logistics preparedness in peace support operations.
Designed to enhance the capacity of logistics officers across military, police, and civilian components, the course provides participants with essential planning and deployment skills to support multidimensional peacekeeping missions. A total of 19 participants from Burundi, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, Uganda, the AU Continental Logistics Base, and EASF staff are attending the training.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Colonel Abdelrahim A.A. Hamad, Commandant of the EASF Logistics Training Center, expressed his gratitude to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia for hosting the course. He also thanked EASF Member States for their continued support and acknowledged the African Peace and Security Architecture (APSA) for funding the initiative.
Aligned with United Nations and African Union standards, the course covers key areas including logistics planning, resource coordination, deployment, sustainability, and interoperability. It is expected to enhance EASF’s readiness for rapid deployment in regional crises.
The LOPPC reflects EASF’s strategic commitment to building a robust and responsive standby force, contributing to sustainable peace and security in Eastern Africa.
