EASF and AUSSOM Explore Collaboration on Regional Peace and Security

Nairobi, Tuesday, 9 September 2025 – H.E. Ambassador El Hadji Ibrahima Diene, the Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission (SRCC) for Somalia and Head of the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), paid a courtesy visit to Brig (Rtd) Paul Kahuria Njema, Director of the Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF), at the EASF Secretariat in Karen, Nairobi.

The visit provided an opportunity for both leaders to engage in high-level discussions focused on the respective mandates of AUSSOM and EASF. Key topics included avenues for sharing experiences and best practices to enhance mission effectiveness, potential areas of collaboration, particularly in the training of AUSSOM-deployed troops by EASF and joint approaches to common operational challenges.

The meeting underscored the importance of strengthening partnerships among regional and continental institutions in the pursuit of peace, security, and stability in Somalia and the wider Eastern Africa region.
