The 30th Ordinary Session of EASF's Policy Organs' Meetings of the Chiefs of Defence (CDFs) was officially opened on Thursday 16th December, 2021 at Speke Hotel in Uganda. POM is a series of three high-level meetings conducted as per the EASF regulations.

It was the Guest of Honor, Hon. Jacob Marksons Oboth, Minister of State, General Duties, from the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs who officially opened the CDF’s meeting. In his address to the delegates from EASF Member States, Hon. Oboth pointed out the great achievements of EASF particularly, in the discharge of its mandate in promoting peace in the region.
 
In his welcoming remarks, the Chairperson of the Committee of Chiefs of Defence, Taher Ali Mohamed thanked the host nation, the Government of Uganda, for hosting the Policy Organs’ Meetings. He said ‘’Distinguished Chiefs, for the organization to run its affairs smoothly, it will require timely resources. I therefore urge you to continue supporting the organization especially through timely submission of our assessed contributions to enable the running of the affairs of the organization. In the same vein, I would like to express sincere gratitude to our partners. They have been part of this journey from the start and we look forward to working together further to realize our vision, mission and beyond", concluded the Chairperson.
 
The Director of EASF, Brig. Gen. Getachew Fayisa highlighted the importance of the EASF Policy Organs Meetings. He underscores the role of the Friends of EASF in the implementation of EASF’s activities. “I cannot fail to recognize the major role played by the African Union, European Union through APSA and the Friends of EASF in supporting the implementation of our activities through funding and technical support. On behalf of EASF, I wish to register our appreciation to AU and all the partners who have continued to be with us through these difficult times”, said the Director.

The meeting ended with the adoption of the report to be presented to the Council of Ministers of Defence and Security to be held on Friday 17th December, 2021.
