EASF Welcomes ATMIS Leadership in Courtesy Visit

In a significant diplomatic engagement, Ambassador Mohamed El-Amine Souef, the Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union and Head of the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS), led a delegation to the Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) Secretariat on Wednesday 7th of August 2024.

Brig (Rtd) Paul Kahuria Njema, the Director of EASF, warmly welcomed Ambassador Souef, along with Force Commander Lt. Gen. Sam Kavuma and their team. During the meeting, Kahuria emphasized the importance of collaboration in addressing security challenges in the region.

“This visit is a follow-up on our previous discussions,” he stated. “We recognize that we are all working towards the same goal—enhancing peace and security in our region. We appreciate the valuable insights shared by the head of mission and his team.”

The meeting underscored the commitment of both organizations to strengthen cooperation and coordination in their efforts to promote stability in Eastern Africa.
