EASF Successfully Conducts a Threats' Mitigation Study
The Eastern Africa Standby Force successfully conducted a study at Kenya Commercial Bank premises in Karen Nairobi from 19th to 23rd September 2016. The one-week study aimed at integrating and developing knowledge of participants
on contemporary character of security threats and their impact on the conduct of Peace Support Operations (PSOs).
The study-week, which was official opened by Major General Mulata of Kenya Defence Forces, was conducted through a series of lectures, seminars and panel discussions examining challenges that are potential threats to EASF at Force and and Mission Headquarters in the conduct of PSOs. Most of the study facilitators were international security experts with adequate experience in PSO matters. Special emphasis was placed on understanding how to adapt and refine strategies, tactics, techniques and procedures within the Multidimensional EASF in order to address prevailing challenges.
A total of 67 participants from the region took part in the study. 45 of them were from all EASF Member States comprising the Civilian, Police and Military Components while 22 were from EASF Secretariat in Karen. They were assisted by 16 international facilitators with various PSO backgrounds.
