EASF Engages AFEX Kenya Limited to Put up FFHQ Startup Kit

The Eastern Africa Standby Force entered into a contractual agreement for putting up the Forward Force Headquarters (FFHQ) Start Up Kit with AFEX Kenya Limited on Thursday, 9th November 2017 at the Secretariat in Karen, Nairobi.

This is the company which procured the Start Up Kit for EASF in December 2015. The kit, comprising tented office, accommodation, sanitary facilities as well as power generators will used by the Forward Force during the upcoming Field Training Exercise (FTX) to be held in November/December 2017 in Port Sudan, in the Republic of the Sudan.

The FTX will provide an opportunity to test the preparedness of the regional peacekeeper in rolling out and successfully conducting a Peace Support Operation's mission. Exercise planners simulate real life scenarios which depict conflict environments and are played during the exercise period. As such, lessons learnt and gaps identified provide a sound foundation upon which EASF can further enhance its capabilities.   

The kit was procured through the financial support of the Government of the Kingdom of Denmark together with the United Kingdom.
